Eliminate the frustration for guests of
trying to find your ceremony or reception site with accurate and concise
map cards. Direction cards are available to match most cards in our
albums — you would typically use the Reception card pricing from your
ensemble, or we have plain cards that come in off-white, bright white
and ecru. You can have the directions typed out or we can reproduce your
hand- or computer-drawn image. The standard size is 4 7/8" x 3 1/2". If
your artwork or drawing is larger than that, we will reduce it to fit.
They are enclosed with your invitations; envelopes are not included.

INFORMATION
Hand-drawn maps

Hand-drawn maps should be on unlined
white paper with a fine-line black marker (pencil will not reproduce).

All information must be included as
we will duplicate your map exactly as submitted.

We will not typeset any additional
information on the map unless you pay a $40 setup fee.

All hand-drawn maps must be mailed
in. If you submit digital art it MUST comply with our
camera-ready art requirements. If it does not, the $40 art charge
mentioned above will apply because we will have to set the map up to
our specifications.

Computer-drawn maps

Computer-drawn maps should be printed on
white paper using a high-quality printer, and mailed in. If you submit
digital art it MUST comply with our
camera-ready
art requirements. If it does not, the $40 art charge mentioned above
will apply because we will have to set the map up to our specifications.

Computer-generated screens and shadings
do not reproduce well. Please no not include images like those found on "MapQuest.com"

Printed Directions

We will set copy in a lettering style
to match the rest of your ensemble.

The directions may be emailed to us
with the rest of the order.

For an additional $27.50 we can put
your map on the front and printed directions on the back. Whatever you
specify is to go on the back (or inside, if the card is a foldover) will be in flat ink. If you do not
specifically note this, we will choose based upon the information
submitted first or what sill look best with your ensemble.

Note that the $40 charge will still
apply on top of that if there is work to be done on the map for you.

Art Requirements:
LINE ART:
This applies to hand-drawn or laser-jet printed art.
Please submit black line art even if it is going to be colorized -- we will
add the color later electronically. The way the art is drawn is the way that it
will be scanned, so if you need us to recreate art for sharper lines and images,
additional fees will be added.
APPLICATIONS:
We accept files created in the following native applications (subject to a
processing charge if we need to fix items in order to open the files). Note that
most of these are acceptable from Macintosh or IBM-PC systems. We use PC
systems, so make sure that your files are using the correct file extensions
(.fh, .tif) so that we know what program will open your files. Please note that
we no longer accept PageMaker documents because they are rarely sent using a
method that works within our system. If you are a PageMaker professional and
know that you will output it correctly, give it a try. We have PM 6.0
Freehand®
Be sure to “convert to paths” all text characters in your document.
If you are using an imported graphic in your Freehand® document, be sure to
include the original graphic file. Place graphics at 100%.
Export the file as an EPS.
Photoshop®
- Files must be saved as a TIFF with LZW compression.
- Do not color an image in Photoshop®
- We recommend that you submit black and white bitmap images at 600 dpi and
grayscale images at 300 dpi for standard spot printing. For full-color printing,
CMYK images need to be submitted at 300 dpi. Images that come to Carlson Craft
at lower resolutions than what is recommended will be output as sent. We will
not raise the resolution here.
- All files need to be submitted at the size being used for printing or larger
(we can shrink it down). If you submit a small size it will lose resolution when
blown up, and we will print it like that.
- Reminder for full-color printing -- Color all text and graphics using Process
CMYK color only. If RGB or other non-CMYK colors are used in your files, the
necessary conversion to CMYK will change the appearance of the colors when we
print, sometimes dramatically.
Adobe Illustrator®
- Change all text into “outlines” in your document.
- If you are using an imported graphic in your Illustrator® document, be sure to
include the original graphic file. Place graphics at 100%.
- Save the file as an Illustrator EPS.
Other file types: PDF, TIF, JPG, EPS
This one was designed by
us at Cherry Lane / Lion Graphics. We charged $40 for this because we were able
to do it to scale tracing a Google map.
Other Samples:
These maps were not drawn by Lion Graphics, they came to us from customers (who
may have purchased them from map designers) and we supplied the surrounding
text.
